MINEHEAD Cricket Club bring their 150th anniversary playing season to an end with a special afternoon of action tomorrow (Saturday September 12).
The entertainment gets underway at 2pm with a 30-over match between a combined Minehead Under 19s and Past Players XI against a Chairman’s Invitation XI.
While that is going on, there will be a parent and child Kwik Cricket competition starting at 3pm, to which all are invited.
And there will be a soft play area provided and run by the 1610 Leisure Centre, as well as a sponsored cycle ride around the field.
The club’s bar will be open, there will be a barbecue, and music will provided by localss Joey Rogers and Bryan Howe.
The proceeds from the day will be divided between SURE )Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment), sponsoring Richard and Karen Beaver - the club’s main supporters - on their cycle event to Cambodia in November, and Minehead Cricket Club Under 19s.
Entry and car parking for the event is free.
The club’s the celebratory events continue next Friday (September 18) when Graham Gooch will be the main speaker at the end of season dinner at the Hobby Horse in Minehead.
Then on Sunday October 18 the club will be hosting a dinner with Johnny Kingdom at the Culbone which will include a meal and conversation and a presentation with the TV wildlife expert.
Tickets are strictly limited and cost £45. Proceeds from the evening will be shared between Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, SURE and Minehead Cricket Club.
