WILLITON Sunday have made a winning start to the season in the second division of the Somerset Sunday Football League.

The West Somerset side, who finished fourth last winter, pulled off a 3-2 home win over Hinton St George who were bottom last season.

Cotford Rovers also started the season by beating Nether Stowey 4-2 away while Moortown St Malachy’s, who have rejoined the league, won 4-1 at home to Spartans with Jack Bryant scoring all four goals.

In the first division, PSV chalked up a 14-2 away success against Terry’s Panthers while Athletico Bridgwater scored six times in the second half in their 7-0 away victory over Ash Park Rangers.

Puriton squeezed home 3-2 away to Bridgwater Wolves after the sides were level at 1-1 at half time.

Top match in the first division this weekend is the clash between champions Mariners and Wyvern Wanderers who finished runners-up last season, while PSV are home to New Foresters.

In Division Two, Butlins entertain Williton while AFC Dunster are away to Northwalls United.
