WATCHET Under 15s travelled to Taunton on Sunday after a two-week break with high hopes of securing three points against Taunton North, but they came home 3-1 losers.

From the start they were on the back foot, with Taunton pressing the defence and preventing Watchet getting out of their half.

Fortunately, Watchet keeper George Wilkinson was on his game, taking ownership of the 18-yard box, while the back four of Fergus Kidd, captain Josh Bruford, Connor Nicholas and Taylor Jay Howen worked hard to clear their lines.

Watchet could have gone behind in the 23rd minute when they gave away a penalty, but the spot-kick went over the bar.

However, Taunton continued to press and finally went ahead after 30 minutes.

Watchet decided they had had enough of the pressure, and when Joel Bradford found Sam Heath, he slotted the ball through to Todd Willis who put it away, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside.

They managed a few more runs at the Taunton North goal, with Chris Langdon putting in a great cross and Josh Elston as always trying hard to find a way through, but they remained 1-0 down at the break.

The second half saw a more positive start from Watchet and they began to take the game to their opponents, but they couldn’t find the space to get a shot away.

After 56 minutes, they were caught on the break and went 2-0 down, but just four minutes later Connor Chilcott threaded the ball through to Willis and he pulled a goal back.

Watchet continued to press the Taunton defence in search of the equaliser but again they were caught on the break and Taunton sealed the win with their third goal.
