WATCHET Town play away to Clutton in their opening match in the first division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League on Saturday, August 8.

The seasiders were relegated from the Premier Division at the end of last season after winning only one of their 28 matches.

Although there has been some interest in running the side from an outside party, nothing has come of it and Nick Sully will be continuing as manager. Watchet will also be fielding a reserve side in the Taunton Saturday League.

Meanwhile, Minehead also kick off the new season in the same division with a home game against Isle of Wedmore.

Minehead were due to play at home to a Wellington XI in a friendly last weekend, but the visitors pulled out at short notice.

Minehead boss Lee Todd said: “I wish they had let me know sooner because we could not find another side to play.”

Todd has made several new signings, who include goalkeeper Greg Turner, Luke Badcock, Mikey Graddon, Cullum Bruford and Nathan Collins.

Todd added: “I don’t expect to make any more signings. We’re all looking forward very much to the start of the season.”

Minehead also have another league game at home on Wednesday, August 12,, when they play Burnham United.
