MINEHEAD play at home to leaders Taunton Deane 2nd XI in the Premier Division of the Somerset Cricket League on Saturday, August 1.

It is a must-win game for the seasiders who are down in fifth place but are only 30 points behind the Deane, both sides having played the same number of games.

Minehead were impressive winners last weekend when they chalked up a nine-wicket away victory over Bridgwater 3rd XI.

Chasing a target of 142 all out, Minehead were steered to victory by opener Ian Buchanan who bounced back to form with an unbeaten 74 off 54 balls with 14 fours and two sixes.

However, the Deane slumped to an 86-run home defeat against Shapwick & Polden - only their third loss of the season.

Second-placed Lympsham & Belvedere are away to bottom side Taunton St Andrews 2nd XI, while third-placed Butleigh entertain Bridgwater 3rd XI.

Meanwhile, Minehead 2nd XI will be looking to improve on their lowly position in Division Three when they play away to second-placed Chard 2nd XI.

Chard trail leaders North Curry by 34 points while Minehead occupy one of the two relegation spots, with only Taunton Deane 3rd XI below them.

Wiveliscombe, who lost by 74 runs away to Frome 2nd XI last weekend, will be chasing only their fifth victory of the season when they play away to Deane’s 3rd XI.
