MINEHEAD take a break from league action when they play at home to Hengrove Athletic in the second round of the Somerset Senior Cup on Saturday afternoon (Nov 7, 2p.m.).

Hengrove play in the Premier Division of the Uhlsport Somerset County League where they are lying just above the relegation zone, with two wins, three draws and seven defeats.

Minehead, who are lying second from bottom in Division One, drew 4-4 away against St George Easton & Gordano last Saturday after leading 3-0 at one stage.

“We have a very young side and I felt losing such a lead was down to inexperience,” said Minehead boss Lee Todd.

“ I can’t put a finger on what exactly went wrong but it is obviously that we were a little naive. The average age of the side is only about 20 - and the lads will learn.”

Todd is not expected to make many changes for the tie, if any. “I won’t know until late in the week what players are available,” he said.

Senior Cup fixtures include: Hutton v Isle of Wedmore, Imperial v Swiss Valley Rangers, Minehead v Hengrove Athletic, Portishead Town Reserves v Winscombe, Staplegrove v Westfield, Larkhall Athletic Development v Worle.

Meanwhile Watchet Town, who collected their first point of the season with a 1-1 home draw against Clutton last weekend, play at home to second-placed Peasedown Miners Welfare in the first division of the county league on Saturday (2p.m.).

The Seasiders are now on minus two points following the deduction of three points for not fulfilling a recent fixture.

Watchet’s big problem is a shortage of players and they would like to strengthen their squad if they could.

Division One fixtures: Clutton v Nailsea United Reserves, St George Easton in Gordano v Glastonbury, Watchet Town v Peasedown Miners Welfare, Wrington Redhill v Ashcott.
