WATCHET Town and Minehead will be looking to respond after heavy defeats when they play matches in the first division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League on Saturday, October 31.
Watchet, still looking for their first points of the season, play at home to Clutton following a 5-0 loss at Isle of Wedmore last weekend.
Watchet are hoping goalkeeper Regan Gallagher, who missed the game at Isle of Wedmore, will be available.
Wellington goalkeeper Luke Vernon turned out for Watchet last Saturday because his club were without a fixture and played very well despite the scoreline. He pulled off some astonishing saves to keep Watchet in the game until the second half when their opponents netted four goals.
It was Watchet’s sixth successive defeat in the first division and they have a minus goals difference of 27.
Clutton are not enjoying the best of seasons either and are lying 12th, with two wins and two draws in 11 matches.
Meanwhile Minehead, who are lying one place above Watchet having not won since the opening day of the season when they beat Isle of Wedmore 1-0 at home, play away to St George Easton in Gordano who are lying 13th after finishing runners-up in the second division last winter.
Minehead boss Lee Todd is convinced his side’s luck will change. “We created chances against Paulton Rovers Sports (lost 5-1 last weekend) but didn’t take them. We scored first and should have added to that lead. We can’t go on creating chances and not taking them.”
