MINEHEAD and Watchet Town are both without matches in the first division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League on Saturday, September 5.

Minehead, in particular, would have liked a game as a number of players unavailable last weekend will be returning.

“We had six out for the goalless draw at Imperial, so I was satisfied with a point,” said Minehead boss Lee Todd. “I was pleased with the effort the lads put in. It was a good team performance.

“Imperial are a decent side who had beaten Ashcott 3-0 the previous weekend and Ashcott hadn’t lost a game before then.”

“We were able to play one or two players who would not normally have been in the side. So it was good to get a good look at them.

“It’s just unfortunate that we have no fixture this weekend when the squad would have been much stronger. “

Minehead are lying eighth in the table, having won one match, drawn two and lost one. They trail the early leaders Peasedown Miners Welfare by seven points but have two crucial games in hand.

Watchet, who lost 5-1 at Peasedown last weekend, also find themselves having a blank weekend.

“The following Saturday we’re going to have to field two sides and that’s going to be difficult,” said Watchet boss Nick Sully.

Watchet find themselves propping up the table although they have only played three league matches.

Peasedown Miners Welfare, Paulton Rovers Sports and Westfield share top spot with 12 points.
