MINEHEAD Under 12s beat Ruishton 5-2 away in an end-to-end match in which the goalkeepers were the stars.

But for Minehead’s Ben Crosby and Ruishton’s Olly Gunstone producing a string of saves, the scores could have been much higher on both sides.

Stanley Taylor looked to have put Minehead ahead after 15 minutes but was ruled offside.

But just two minutes later Tommy Robinson found him with an accurate pass and he side-footed past the keeper into the net, just clipping the underside of the bar for his first goal for the team since coach Steve Jackson moved him from defence to midfield.

It remained 1-0 at half-time, and after being denied a penalty a minute into the second half when Sam Jackson was brought down, Minehead made it 2-0 a minute later when Jackson played in Cullen Bruford and his shot gave the keeper no chance.

Thomas Kubaczewski made a good run after the re-start and put the ball past the keeper, then after Ruishton twice hit the post, Taylor High made it 4-0 with a good left-foot strike.

Ruishton pulled a goal back with 15 minutes to go and added another three minutes later, but in the final minue Jackson netted to complete Minehead’s 5-2 win.
