MINEHEAD Reserves were once again on the road for their third successive away game in Division One of the Taunton & District Saturday Football League, this time traveling to Norton Fitzwarren where they gained an impressive 5-0 victory.

It proved to be a very straightforward and emphatic win for this young Blues side. Minehead totally controlled the game from start to finish, finding themselves 3-0 up by halftime with goals from Scott Kivell, either side of 16-year-old Haiden Griffiths strike.

Changes were made at half time with Tommy Robinson and Janusz Jasielczuk joining an already dominate midfield set up. Norton offered very little in attack and Minehead keeper Tomasz Kubaczski only really had to make one save of note throughout the 90 minutes.

The back four of Olly Jones, Harvey Lovell, Fin Landon and Myles Campbell Farmer dealt comfortably with anything Norton could muster and with plenty of time on the ball they produced some lovely build up play, one of which led to Jasielczuk adding Minehead’s fourth on seventy minutes.

With the game comfortably in their grasp Minehead slowed the game down, moving the ball about with ease and in the final five minutes the hardworking Kivell was rewarded with his hat trick and Minehead’s fifth.

Minehead will certainly be happy with their start to the season, having taken seven points from a possible nine, all away from home. Man of the match Scott Kivell.

With no game this coming Saturday, October 4, the Reserves are finally at home in a mouthwatering fixture against an unbeaten Racehorse Rovers at the Rec on October 11, with a 2:30pm kick-off.

Minehead Reserves: Kubaczski, Jones, Lovell, Landon, M. Campbell Farmer, Reaney, Scheepers, Kivell, Griffiths, J Heath, Pope. Subs: Jasielczuk, Robinson (both used).
