DESPITE being without Glyn Jones, Tom Blundell, Ellis Thomas and Romano Carey, injury-hit Dulverton Town gained a fine 3-1 away win over Minehead Colts in the second division of the Taunton & District Saturday Football League.

The visitors, who looked to local hero Adam Chamberlain for inspiration, outclassed their rivals throughout the first half but unfortunately could not get the ball in the back of the net.

Town’s midfield trio of Ben Mear, Angus McDonald and Jack Kelly provided a solid foundation for the front three but despite their best efforts half time arrived and the score was level at 0-0. Minehead started to grow in to the game after the break and the Town centre backs Dave Kelland and Toby Wilson were needing support from their full backs Carey and Burke.

]It was Dave Kelland that scuffed a free kick midway through the second half and the ball fell kindly to his brother James who slotted the ball home to put the visitors 1-0 up. More chances for Town followed but it was Minehead who levelled the score following a goal line scramble at a corner.

But then the game turned on its head. With a delightful layoff from the restart from James Kelland, Adam Chamberlain let fly with what can only be called an absolute thunder bolt from within his half. The poor Minehead keeper had absolutely no chance and the strike put Town straight back in the lead 2-1.

Minehead huffed and puffed but left gaps at the back which allowed Kelland to fly down the left wing and cross in to Chamberlain’s path to smash in his second of the day. This was a well earned win away from home that puts Town second in the table.

Dulverton’s next league game is home to Staplegrove Colts on Saturday, 29th November, kick off 2pm.
