ALCOMBE Rovers and unbeaten Racehorse Rovers fought out a 2-2 draw at Urban Road in Division One of the Taunton Saturday League. The game started brightly, with Alcombe immediately putting the visitors under pressure. Playing confidently through the lines, Sam Harley impressed early on with his sharp passing, energy, and creativity, while Luke Hill playing well in the midfield with composure and vision.

Josh Bruford worked tirelessly up front, pressing defenders and creating space for his teammates as Alcombe began to dominate possession. Despite their positive play, Alcombe couldn’t convert their early pressure into clear chances. Racehorse grew into the game playing well and created a few opportunities of their own, but goalkeeper Carl Paige was in superb form.

At the back, Alcombe were well-organised, with Mike Graddon, Beau Winters, Toren Eldridge, and Charlie Disney forming a solid defensive line. Their discipline paid off when sustained pressure led to a foul in the box, and Nathan Collins confidently converted from the penalty spot to give Alcombe a deserved 1–0 lead. The second half saw both sides raise their game in an open, entertaining battle. Alcombe created several chances but couldn’t find the finishing touch, and a defensive slip allowed Racehorse to capitalise and equalise.

The response from Alcombe was immediate — Brian Hall lifted a clever ball over the defence to Cullen Bruford, whose perfectly timed diagonal run and composed finish restored the home side’s lead. Alcombe pressed for a third, with Toren Eldridge setting up Hall for what looked a certain goal, only for the Racehorse keeper to produce a brilliant save.

Moments later, Nathan Collins appeared to be brought down in the box, but to Alcombe’s frustration, the referee waved play on. In the dying minutes, Racehorse found an equaliser from a corner to make it 2–2 at the final whistle.

Man of the Match: Sam Harley.
