HANNAH Delbridge was the player of the match for Roadwater Seconds when they hosted Stoke St Mary Seconds at the Recreation Ground in the West Somerset Cricket League Division Four on Saturday afternoon.

After the visitors won the toss and chose to bat Toby Dutton and Mark Bolland accounted for the top three batters before Hannah Delbridge came into the attack.

Delbridge proceeded to account for Ian McCarthy for 16, Derek Parsons for 5 and top scorer John Gallagher who she claimed leg before wicket for 36.

Adam Ware with 20 and an unbeaten 16 from Paul Gardner saw Stoke St Mary to 130 for 8 from their 30 overs.

Delbridge ended with 3 wickets for 19 from her 7 overs, while Dutton claimed 2 for 30 off 5 and there was a wicket apiece for Ashley Burr, Simon Apsey and Bolland.

When Roadwater replied they lost opener Nigel Grabham with the total on 17 before Delbridge came to the wicket to join Burr. Between them the second wicket pair then shared an unbroken partnership of 114 to see Roadwater to 131 without further loss in the 20th over.

Burr finished unbeaten on 37 which included 5 fours while Delbridge finished a very successful match unbeaten 76 which included 11 fours and three 6s.

This was Roadwater Seconds sixth victory in the league this season and with one match remaining they are currently in sixth place in the table. The title in this division has been won by Stogumber who have lost only one match this season and have a 63-point lead at the top of the table over second-placed Morebath.

Roadwater Seconds finish off their league season with an away match against basement team East Huntspill Seconds on Saturday, September 5.
