MINEHEAD Third XI made the short journey along the A39 to play against near neighbours Carhampton in Division Three of the West Somerset Cricket League on Saturday where, thanks to two centurions, they emerged winners by 220 runs.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first Minehead openers James Griffiths and Sam Cobb took the total onto 41 when Cobb was out caught by Chris Clements off Nick Winzer for 13.

Griffiths and Althaf Navas saw up 100 but shortly afterwards the new batter was caught by Jack Milton off Clements for 26. Steve Archer then fell cheaply bowled by Clements which brought Rajneesh Krishnan to the wicket.

By this time Griffiths was already unbeaten on 63 and along with Krishnan he helped to take the total onto 230 when he was out for 110 bowled by Clements.

Krishnan was seeing the ball well and continued to clear the ropes on several occasions to keep the runs coming. He lost the services of Gift Pulikkottil for 10 with the total on 240, and shortly after bringing up his century the innings concluded with Minehead 287 for five. Krishnan ended unbeaten on 102 off 53 balls with five 4s and 10 sixes while Clements ended with four for 73.

When Carhampton replied they were soon in trouble and slipped to 26 for five before Charlie Tucker and Paul Keal came together and took the total onto 41 when Tucker was caught and bowled by Harry Swann for 12.

There was little further resistance and soon after Swann bowled Keal for 14 Carhampton were all out for 67 in the 18th over, giving Minehead victory by a massive 220 runs.

For Minehead Ben Cobb took three for 21 from four overs while Harry Swann claimed three for 10 from five, one of which was a maiden.
