MINEHEAD 2nd XI suffered a heavy 142-run defeat against Street in Division Three of the Somerset Cricket League.
Street, who moved above Minehead into fourth place in the table following their success, were put into bat and scored 257 all out in their 40 overs. Joe Storey (33), Harry Falconer (36), Dillon Difford (30), Henry Bonetti (32 not out) and Robert Samy (29) all scored useful runs for Street.
Minehead’s wicket-takers included Rob Spiers (2-51), James Davis (2-38), Sam Cobb (2.45) and Matt Sully (2-38).
Minehead were given a fine start by openers Charlie Payne (34) and Daniel Pawson (28) who put on 69 before being parted. However, once Payne was out, Minehead began to struggle with only Cobb (14) managing to reach double figures as they were all out for 115. Samuel Frost took 5-15 and Falconer 2-21. Street collected 35 points and Minehead's 15.
Meanwhile, Taunton Indians have a 38-point lead at the top of the table after they beat Wiveliscombe away by 170 runs. Batting first, Taunton Indians were bowled out for 218 with Santin Kuriakose Keenampacal being their star batter with 96, his knocked included 15 fours. Lewis Clark finished with the very respectable figures of 4-27 while Richard Morrison took 2-48.
Wiveliscombe never looked like getting anywhere near their target and were bowled out for 48 with opener Morrison being their only batter to reach double figures. Albin Jacob took 4-29, Anoop Dominic George 4-17 and Sooraj Parunon Kenneth 2-2. Taunton Indian collected 35 points and Wivelicombe 12.
Meanwhile Minehead 2nd XI will be looking to put their latest loss behind them when they play at home to Spaxton on Saturday, July 5.
Taunton Indian will be chasing their eighth victory of the season when they play at Street, Cheddar entertain North Curry while South Petherton are home to Wiveliscombe.
