ONLY one half of Taunton Baseball Club was in action on Sunday as the Pistols welcomed Yeovil Whirlwinds to Taunton Green for their final home fixtures of the South West and Wales Baseball League Division 5 season.

The Pistols were swept by the visitors, losing 19-10 and 16-10.. The opening game began as a closely contested affair, with both teams trading runs in the early innings after Yeovil edged ahead. However, Whirlwinds gradually pulled away as the Pistols' offence struggled to keep pace. Taunton mounted a late rally in the final inning, but the Yeovil defence closed out the game to secure a 19-10 victory. Chris Worley and Dan Adams were the standout performers with the bat for the Pistols.

Yeovil carried their momentum into game two, racing into an early lead while the Pistols were held scoreless through the opening three innings. Despite the slow start, Taunton kept themselves within striking distance and a five-run fourth inning reduced the deficit to just 6-5.

The visitors responded emphatically with a 10-run fifth inning to put the game beyond reach. The Pistols answered with five runs of their own but ultimately fell to a 16-10 defeat. The result keeps the Whirlwinds just ahead of Taunton in the Division 5 standings.

Pistols assistant manager Steve Coles remained upbeat after the double-header. "Two very tough games against a good side, but I'd rather focus on the positive performances. We made some good plays in the field and continued to battle until the end."

The Tricky Cider MVP awards were shared between Vienna Warren, Holly Johnson and Luke King. The trio combined for seven runs and eight stolen bases across the two games, while Warren also produced an impressive catch at shortstop during the opening contest.

Elsewhere, Muskets players Kevin Snow and José Bobadilla represented the club at Somerset County Cricket Club's Family Day.
