MINEHEAD will be chasing back-to-back wins in the Premier Division of the Somerset Cricket League when they play away to Bridgwater 3rd XI on Saturday, July 25.

The Seasiders, who gained a thrilling last-ball win at home to Wembdon 2nd XI last Saturday, are lying sixth in the table and trail leaders Taunton Deane 2nd XI by 51 points.

They have six matches to play and still have a chance of finishing runners-up and gaining promotion.

Wembdon scored 245-7 in their 40 overs with Dave Bingham being their star batter with 128 not out, which included 16 fours and four sixes.

Opener Chris James scored 54 for Minehead and there were good knocks from Braden Taylor (51), Ellis Taylor (41) and Gary Bennett (28) with Bingham snapping up 3-46.

Minehead’s opponents on Saturday Bridgwater 3rd XI are lying ninth in the table and are currently in the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Minehead 2nd XI need to start winning games in Division Three if they are going to avoid relegation.

They are two points adrift at the bottom of the table after their three-wicket loss in a high-scoring home match against Shaftesbury Road.

They play at home to Taunton side Bishops Hull on Saturday while Wiveliscombe, in sixth spot after their fine win over leaders North Curry, are away to Frome 2nd XI who are lying eighth.

Curry will be looking to bounce back when they play at home to Taunton Deane 3rd XI.
