WATCHET Bowling Club gained a nine-shot victory away to neighbours Minehead in the second round of the Wedmore Plate on Tuesday, July 21.

Saturday 26th July saw the Watchet A and B teams at home in the County League. Watchet A were hosting Yeovil A and slipped to their first defeat of the season, losing by 5 shots overall WBC v Yeovil – County League, E Owen, D Bowden, C Rendell, and I Trunks draw 16-16; Pete Bowden, N Virgin, R Groves, and A Knight win 19-15; T Daley, R Anthony, H Edwards, and R Rendell loss 12-21. WBC 47 shots (3 points) v Yeovil A 52 shots (9).

Watchet B played Bridgwater B and won by 3 shots overall. WBC v Bridgwater – County League: K Saunders, P Starmer, S Gunner, and G Woodward win 22-20; P Binding, J Hutchings, R Beresford, and A Archer loss 16-22;C Bowden, F Powis, K Warner, and Phil Bowden win 26-19. WBC 64 shots (10 points), Bridgwater 61 shots (2).

Tuesday 29th saw Watchet host Taunton Vivary in the quarter final of the Wedmore Plate but went down to a 25-shot loss. WBC v Taunton Vivary – Wedmore Plate Pete Bowden, N Virgin, R Rendell, and J Groves Loss 14-17; T Daley, D Bowden, C Rendell, and A Bryant win 15-12; S Waterman, Phil Bowden, M Webber, and I Trunks loss 14-24; E Owen, G Woodward, R Groves, and A Knight loss 8-23. WBC 51 shots, Taunton Vivary 76 shots.

Saturday 2nd August saw the Watchet A and B teams on their travels in the county league. Watchet A travelled to North Petherton where theywon by four. WBC v North Petherton – County League: Pete Bowden, M Webber, R Rendell, and I Trunks lLoss 16-20; T Daley, N Virgin, C Rendell, and A Bryant win 23-14; E Owen, R Anthony, R Groves, and A Knight loss 18-19. WBC 57 shots (8 points) v North Petherton 53 shots (4).

Watchet B play Wellington B away and put in a great performance to win by 25 shots overall and claiming the maximum 12 points.

Sunday 3rd saw Watchet return to action in the mixed Exmoor Trophy League. Minehead were the visitors and found their hosts in good form, Watchet winning by 22 shots overall. WBC v Minehead – Exmoor Trophy League: C Bendle, S Bowden, and C Rendell draw 15-15; D Downer, J Groves, and S Waterman Win 20-19; M Binding, C Bowden, and K Warner win 23-9; J Eling, C Woodford, and T Daley win 21-17, L Daley, J Hutchings, and Phil Bowden loss 17-23; K Saunders, P Perkins, and K Knight Win 18-9. WBC 114 shots (13 points) v Minehead 92 shots (3).

On Saturday 9th both the Watchet A and B teams were home again in the county league. Watchet A welcomed Bath B and managed to secure a victory by 35 shots overall, picking up 10 points. Watchet B hosted Victoria Park Bridgwater and picked up a comfortable victory by 28 shot, collecting ten points.
