WATCHET Bowling Club’s A and B teams were both in action at home in the county league in mid-August.
The A team were hosts to Isle of Wedmore A and ran out 23-shot winners. WBC v Isle of Wedmore, Watchet players only: T Daley, R Groves, A Knight, A Bryant loss 16-24; Pe Bowden, R Rendell, I Trunks, J Groves win 29-27; S Waterman, R Anthony, S Hooper, R Hooper win 34-5, overall WBC 79 shots (10 points), Isle of Wedmore 56 shots (2).
WBC B welcomed Taunton Deane B where the winners would be guaranteed promotion. Watchet put in a strong performance, winning by 35 shots. WBC v Taunton Deane, E Owen, F Powis, P Keith, H Edwards win 30-13; C Bowden, S Gunner, R Scott, Ph Bowden draw 20-20; K Saunders, P Starmer, D Bowden, G Woodward win 26-8, overall WBC 76 shots (11 points), Taunton Deane 41.
The B team have now completed their league campaign, which ended with promotion back into South West Division One. The A team has one game remaining but have also already secured promotion back to Premier One next season.
If they win their final game, they will go up as champions of Premier Two.
Williton travelled to Watchet on the 23rd August in the latest Exmoor Trophy League match. On this occasion, the visitors were too strong for Watchet, winning by 34 shots overall. Watchet did however manage to pick up 5 points through two rink wins and a draw.
