AFTER a long spell without playing, Minehead finally got the chance to apply all their hard work in training over recent weeks when they travelled to play at Huish Tigers - and came away with a 19-1 victory in Division Three South of the Somerset Women’s League.

Focused on providing a performance to be proud of heading into the Christmas break, Minehead took the lead when Kayleigh, bent one into the top corner to make it 1-0.

A quick spell of four goals with Erin, Mabel, Jaz, and Emeral, getting their names on the scoresheet, made it 5-0

Minehead had now well and truly found their stride with a further four goals quickly added with Kayleigh, Emeral, Erin, and Mabel all bagging their braces as they terrorised the Huish back line with their pace and intricate dribbling/passing.

The foundation to this brilliant first half was clear to see as the backline of Bonita, Darcy, and Honey were superbly composed on the ball, defending brilliantly and always picking the right pass into midfield, giving Minehead a 9-0 lead at the interval.

The second half continued very much in the same vein with line-breaking passes thanks to the midfield of Courtney and Lilly, resulting in more goals with near enough every shot as the clinical display was showing no signs of letting up! With the next group of goals coming from Mabel and Kayleigh, who both completed their hat-tricks, another Jaz special from the edge and Courtney joined the scoring score with a thunderous strike from the edge of the area.

With the score at 13, Huish would’ve been forgiven for throwing in the towel, but huge credit to the hosts as they kept battling and had something to cheer about around the hour mark as they broke down the right and a well-struck shot left keeper Madison, who was having a quiet game, with no chance as the ball was lashed into the roof of the net.

Minehead responded quickly and got back to scoring ways with perhaps the goal of the game after a flick-up and strike from midfielder Courtney.

Then, soon after Evie finally got her goal after so much great work on the right. The persistent and hardworking winger struck brilliantly past the oncoming keeper from a tight angle for a 15-1 lead.

As the game entered the final quarter, more goals for Minehead came to round off proceedings with live-wire Emeral bagging two more goals, skipper Erin scored a trademark solo goal, securing her hat-trick, taking her season total to 20, then following this, in the dying moments Mabel added her 4th, taking her just above the skipper with 21 to top the league’s scoring charts.

A truly emphatic display of professionalism, clinical finishing, and togetherness as Minehead put on a footballing performance for everyone that they and the support should be proud of!

Minehead sit proudly with eight wins from eight matches in the league, scoring 84 and conceding just 4, at near enough the halfway mark.

Next up, a New Year’s treat as Minehead travel to Watchet for the second derby of the season on January 4th. Player of the match - Emeral Haran

Manager Dan Haran said: “The team are looking forward to all the challenges ahead in 2026! We want to thank everyone for their fantastic support.”
