ALCOMBE Rovers, one of the oldest clubs in the Taunton Saturday Football League, will not be taking part this season.

The club made the surprise announcement last weekend, ending their 75 year association with the Saturday League.

In a statement, the club says: “This is all with the hope that over the next couple of seasons a group of players and management want to resurrect the club,

“The West Somerset veterans team will continue under Alcombe Rovers and will be registered with the Somerset FA as such. Exmoor Rangers and other local teams, including Minehead Youth, will continue to be welcomed to King George Road this season to use our facilities. Thank you to all our supporters and ex-players for their support over the years. We are sorry to let you down but we hope this is not the end of our fantastic club.”
