A MAN arrested by armed police officers after an alleged criminal damage incident on a main road near Watchet remained on bail this week.
Armed officers were called after a report that the man, who is in his 20s, had been seen with a firearm.
He was alleged to have been involved in an incident in which a car suffered damage on the A358.
His dramatic arrest took place in the early hours of Sunday after he was tracked to a McDonald’s restaurant in Wellington.
Police searched his vehicle but did not find any weapon.
A spokeswoman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: “The individual arrested remains on police bail.
“Anybody with information about criminal damage to a car on the A358 should call 101 and quote reference 5223087388.”
Police said inquiries into the incident were ongoing.
