PEOPLE who are inspired by the glitter and the glamour of Strictly Come Dancing but are not quite up to that level of energy and skill are invited to join some afternoon fun at the St John Ambulance Hall in Minehead.

Strictly Come Tea Dancing classes will be held on the first Friday of each month, beginning tomorrow (September 7) at 2pm.

With recorded music from the 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s, there will be ballroom and Latin dances, like the waltz, foxtrot and tango, as well as sequence and other fun dances.

The classes are being run by Age UK Somerset as part of its mission to support older people in remaining fit and healthy. They are suitable for those wanting to learn something new or to brush up on skills from earlier days.

Class co-ordinator Julie Bolton said: “Everyone is welcome, beginners and intermediates alike. They can just come and join the dancing – there’s no need to bring a partner – or just sit and listen, enjoy and make some new friends.”

Refreshments are included in the cost of £3.50 per session. There is no dress code.
