FOR 37 consecutive years, since 1982, Stogumber has welcomed visitors to its gardens open weekend and this year is no exception.

Over 150 people in the village are involved one way or another in readiness for tomorrow and Sunday (June 9 – 10) when 13 gardens will be open.

Musical features are in store, too, such as wandering minstrels in some gardens, musical accompaniment to fine dining in the village hall and organ recitals in the church.

Beneficiaries including St Mary’s Church, St Margaret’s Hospice and the Children’s Hospice South West will be manning stalls around the village. In the past five years alone, about £37,000 has been raised.

The gardens are open from 10.30am to 5.30pm food will be available from 10.30am in the village hall. A ticket for both days is £6, free for children under 14. Free parking will be available on Beacon Field.
