FIREFIGHTERS have been tackling a major blaze in a flat in an historic area of Minehead since early this morning.

The alarm was raised at shortly before 4.30am when smoke was seen billowing from the property in Quay Street, close to Minehead Harbour.

Both the town’s fire crews immediately attended, closely followed by firefighters from Porlock, who immediately called for a further pump to bring additional personnel.
