A MOTORIST who drove at more than twice the speed limit through Cannington had penalty points endorsed on his driver’s licence but was not banned from driving.
Mark Seager, aged 41, of Maple Road, Curry Rivel, pleaded guilty when appearing before District Judge Angela Brereton in Taunton Magistrates Court on May 21.
Judge Brereton heard Seager was clocked by a police camera trap doing 47 mph in his Skoda Octavia car in a 20 mph zone in Main Road last September 14.
She ordered six penalty points to be put on Seager’s licence and fined him £600 with £120 costs and a £264 victim fund surcharge.
However, a disqualification was not imposed after defending solicitor Steven Williams explained it would cost him his job and impact his family.
