A MINEHEAD shoplifter has been given a conditional discharge after admitting stealing from a supermarket in the town on two consecutive days.

Debra Crook, aged 38, of Hawthorn Road, appeared in Taunton Deane Magistrates Court on Wednesday, December 16.

She was sentenced by District Judge Angela Brereton, who took into account her guilty pleas.

Crook pleaded guilty to stealing food and drink and a variety of household items to the value of £82.85 from the now-closed Co-op supermarket in The Avenue on February 6 this year, and also to going back to the store the next day and taking another £96.70 of items.

Judge Brereton imposed a six months conditional discharge and ordered Crook to pay compensation totalling £179.55 in monthly instalments of £20.
