A MINEHEAD motorist caught drink-driving on the A39 has been banned from driving for 14 months.

Daniel Brider, aged 43, of Quarry Close, Alcombe, pleaded guilty when he appeared in Taunton Magistrates Court on Friday (September 18).

The court heard Brider drove a Kia Sportage car near Dragons Cross, Bilbrook, on August 11 and was found to have 48 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, above the legal limit of 35.

Chairman of the bench Stephen McKechnie disqualified him from driving for 14 months but said it would be reduced by 14 weeks if he completed a rehabilitation course by next June 11.

Mr McKechnie also fined Brider £576 and ordered him to pay a surcharge of £230 and £85 toward the cost of the prosecution.
