A FORTNIGHT of nighttime closures of a Minehead town centre road will start on Monday (September 28) as Somerset Council contractors carry out preparation works and resurfacing.

The Avenue will be closed between 6.30 pm and 11.30 pm Monday to Thursday evenings from the Esplanade junction to Blenheim Road.

A council spokesperson said: “To enable the works to be undertaken safely, The Avenue will be closed to through traffic.

“Signed diversion routes will be in place.”

The spokesperson said to minimise disruption there would not be any works on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday evenings.

They hoped the road resurfacing would be completed by Tuesday, October 13, or possibly earlier.

However, they warned the schedule could change if there were any bad weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
