A WOMAN who was behaving in a drunk and disorderly manner in a town centre and then assaulted a police officer has appeared in Taunton Magistrates Court.

Tamzin Palmer, aged 21, whose address was given as the Beach Hotel, Minehead, changed her plea on Monday (September 28) to guilty to both offences.

Prosecuting solicitor Emma Lenanton said the offences happened in The Avenue, Minehead, on July 22 this year.

District judge Angela Brereton fined Palmer £180 and ordered her to pay £300 compensation.

Palmer further admitted under a different address in North Petherton to driving a vehicle in Bridgwater while under the influence of cannabis on February 28 this year, for which she was committed to Taunton Crown Court for sentencing on January 15 next year.
