A MINEHEAD man who attacked two police officers has been fined and ordered to pay compensation after appearing in a magistrates court.

Daniel Warren, aged 50, of the Gascony Hotel, pleaded guilty when he was in the dock on Monday (September 28).

He also admitted possessing 10g of the class B drug cannabis and using threatening or abusive words and/or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm, or distress, both offences occurring in Martock.

The court heard all the offences happened on February 24 this year when Warren first assaulted a police officer in Martock and then assaulted a custody sergeant in Bridgwater.

District judge Angela Brereton fined Warren £180 and ordered him to pay a total of £350 compensation, and also ordered the destruction of the cannabis.
