MINEHEAD got back to winning ways on Saturday with a comfortable 65 run win over local rivals Milverton.

But once again the outcome was in doubt until the latter part of the Milverton innings as the home team threatened at the halfway stage to overhaul Minehead's imposing total of 250-5.

Milverton elected to field first and Minehead openers Lethaby and Goodrum got them off to a fine start with a partnership of 85 from 17 overs. Goodrum was in particularly aggressive mood but the introduction of the slower bowlers, Hanniford and Farley, slowed the run rate.

Blythe added a comfortable 25 runs but it was left to David Bosley to inject high tempo into the Minehead effort towards the end of their innings as he struck a powerful 71 not out that included numerous straight drives.

Minehead declared on 250-5 after 43 overs leaving the home team 47 overs to reach their target.

After losing an early wicket Boffin and Hanniford gave the Milverton innings impetus and at the halfway point in their run chase they were 125-2.

However, the introduction of Blythe into the attack saw him take the important wicket of Hanniford for an aggressive 72 and Minehead were then able to chip away at the middle order and tailend in order to claim their victory.

Bosley returned to finish off the tail and Blythe was Minehead's most successful bowler.
