WATCHET Community Cinema is staging its second film festival – with support from top clay model-makers from the likes of Wallace & Gromit plus, it is hoped, director Ken Loach.
The festival runs from Thursday to Sunday, February 8 to 11, and will include two model-making workshops run by experts Aardman Animations and featuring Gromit and Morph.
Among cinema highlights, it is hoped that Ken Loach will come to introduce one of his films such as I Daniel Blake, Kes, Cathy Come Home or Jimmy’s Hall on the Saturday evening.
The festival kicks off with an evening of travel and adventure films introduced by Jim Whittaker, director of Channel Adventure Training, Minehead, and sponsored by Quantock Brewery and Secret Orchard Cider.
The Friday night film will be the celebrated Victoria and Abdul, starring Dame Judy Dench and Ali Fazal.
To set the tone, Indian appetisers will be provided before the screening.
The two workshops facilitated by expert model makers from Aardman Animations, who have worked on titles like Wallace & Gromit, Chicken Run, Shaun the Sheep, Morph and Creature Comforts, will be held on Saturday morning. Participants will discover how to make their very own Gromit or Morph. A selection of films made by Aardman will be shown during the workshop.
The Aardman workshops are by pre-booking only. Full details of the programme and contacs for enquiries and bookings are on the Watchet Cinema website.
