THERE were dramatic scenes as a vehicle smashed into a building in the centre of Wiveliscombe on Thursday afternoon (December 18).

A silver Toyota Hilux pick-up mounted a pavement and crashed headfirst into the front of a house in West Street, between the award-winning Thorne’s Butchers shop and the town’s Jubilee Gardens, causing significant damage to a two-pillar stone porch.

A parked car was also said to have been damaged in the incident, which happened shortly before 3.15 pm.
