CHILDREN, young people and adults are being invited to get creative after the Minehead Literary Festival writing competition was launched last week.

Details for the Short Story or Poem Competition have just been published on the festival’s new website, and the deadline for entries is March 6.

A shortlist will be drawn up and winners will be announced on Saturday April 25, the first of the two-day festival.

This is the second year the Minehead Literary Festival is running, after it proved a big success last year.

The writing competition will cater for all age groups in three categories, including five to seven-year olds and eight to ten-year-olds, on the theme of The Lost Boat; 11 to 15-year-olds on the theme of I Capture The Castle; 16 to any age on the theme of The Secret.

The oldest group’s entries must be 500 words or less as an illustrated poem or piece of writing, while the younger groups’ must be 250 words or less.
