A WORKING model funfair which has traditionally brought festive cheer to Minehead shoppers is making its last-ever appearance this year in the window of St Margaret’s Furniture Hospice shop, in Friday Street.

The automated working fairground model, which costs £1 to activate the rides, music, and lights, has been loaned to the charity for Christmas by Minehead man Brian Giles.

Mr Giles has now decided, with regret, that the iconic model should finally go into retirement after the festive season.

A St Margaret’s spokesperson said: “It is a real hit, with lots of customers paying £1 to see the fairground in action - with the big wheel, tower, hot air balloon, and more, all working for three minutes at a time.

“It always stops passers-by.”
