A SPECIAL day out included a trip on the train for members and supporters of the Minehead branch of Parkinson's UK.

A total of 25 people - members and volunteers - enjoyed a journey on the West Somerset Railway, setting off from Minehead Station on Tuesday.

The event was funded by donations from local Rotarians and Masons.

They wanted the money to be used for the enjoyment of members of the Minehead branch of the charity, which undertakes research and supports Parkinson's Disease sufferers.

The branch is staging an open day at Minehead's Promenade Hotel on Tuesday (September 13) from 2pm to 4pm when experts will be available to talk about a range of issues.
