St Margaret’s Hospice Care is inviting people across Somerset to get active, challenge themselves, and support local hospice care by taking part in its brand-new fundraising event.

100k Your Way will be running throughout August and is a flexible challenge encouraging participants to complete 100 kilometres in any way they choose.

That could be walking the dog, cycling with friends, swimming lengths at the local pool, running, hiking, skating, paddleboarding, or something even more creative.

Over the course of a month it’s just 3km a day, making it an achievable goal for people of all ages and abilities.

Every kilometre completed will help raise vital funds for local hospice care.

Participants are encouraged to raise a minimum of £100 through sponsorship. That could fund a visit from one of St Margaret’s community nurses, allowing a patient to receive expert palliative care in the comfort of their own home, when they need it most.

Head of engagement at St Margaret’s Hospice, Amy Garland, said: “You might be looking for a personal challenge, a reason to get outdoors, a fun activity to do with friends, family, or colleagues, or a way to give back to a local charity.

“This event is for everyone. Every pound raised helps us continue providing compassionate care and support to patients and families across Somerset during some of the hardest times in their lives.”

Participants can complete the distance using a single activity or mix it up throughout the month.

The challenge can be tackled individually, with friends and family, or as part of a workplace team.

As a charity, St Margaret’s Hospice relies heavily on the generosity of its community to fund its specialist care and support services for people facing life-limiting illnesses across Somerset.
