MUSGROVE Park Hospital has begun a temporary one way system to allow for the continued construction of its surgical centre.

The Taunton hospital will be operating a one way system for approximately 12 weeks from Monday, April 14.

The one-way system will affect the access road to the site from Wellington Road to the front of the emergency department entrance. This will mean that all traffic will exit Musgrove park Hospital via Parkfield Drive.

In a statement, the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust said: “We are working with emergency services including the South West Ambulance trust, and local public transport operators, including bus services and park and ride operators. We anticipate that this will increase the travel time when using these services.

“To support the flow of traffic between 6am and 10pm, 7 days a week, a traffic marshal will be stationed at either end of the one-way system.

“Outside of these peak times (between 10pm and 6am) traffic lights will be in placed to control the flow of traffic.

“The estimated 12 weeks to complete these works, include a week of temporary fencing to review these arrangements, and to establish whether the measures put in place are appropriate.

“Thank you in advance for your patience and support.”
