150 years ago – November 6th 1869
The overseer and churchwardens of the parish of Fiddington appeared at Williton and were fined £2 each for failing to supply a list of persons liable to serve on juries.

50 years ago – November 8th 1969
After 14 years as a one-day event on the Memorial Ground, Watchet Flower Show was to “go inside” and be staged in a local school hall. Retiring chairman Mr A A Pearse said the decision was made “purely and simply through lack of helpers”.
25 years ago – November 11th 1994
A lawn was swallowed up during the worst night of flooding for years. Mrs Val Travers, of Park Lane Close, Carhampton, said her garden looked as if it had been hit by a small earthquake, with a hole that dropped nearly 8ft, and 4ft wide in places. Even surrounding hedges dropped by several feet.
