SIR — At last some good news regarding the new roundabout for Washford Cross (Free Press August 22). These works are long overdue. However, as a resident in Five Bells, I am disturbed to see the proposed rerouting of traffic via Five Bells. This road already has a 7.5 ton weight limit that is completely ignored by many HGV drivers. Co-op trucks which already block up Williton by parking on the corner of Fore Street then head straight up Five Bells to get to the Watchet Co-op, ignoring the signage. We will now face nine months of the D S Smith 40-foot trucks driving up a residential street with a 7.5 ton weight limit .These trucks run 24 hours a day ,seven days a week. Many trucks deliver in the hours of darkness due to the difficulty in using the A39 during the day. I understand there is little alternative for these trucks, and I hasten to add I have only ever seen one of their trucks using Five Bells in the last five years. However, can some consideration be shown for the residents of Five Bells - for example, a curfew between the hours of 10pm and 7am. J Kane, Five Bells.
