PERFECT weather and a near-record crowd ensured the 24th South West Folk Festival held in Carhampton Recreation Centre over last weekend was sweet music to the ears of the organisers.

A spokesperson said: “We have had really appreciative messages saying how much everybody enjoyed themselves.

“Once again, it was a major event on the local music calendar with folk enthusiasts coming from a wide area.”

The weekend of concerts, singarounds, music sessions, and workshops, together with outside events, raised more than £800, which was Gift Aided to £1,000, for the Brain Tumour Charity.

This year, the festival was spread throughout the village to include two concerts in the parish church and an American evening in the Butchers Arms pub.
