UNITE Community’s free screening of I Daniel Blake, at the Beach Hotel, Minehead, attracted a generous audience – £103.65 was raised by the collection and donated to West Somerset Food Cupboard.
Unite Community, part of the union Unite, offers membership to people who would normally be excluded from unions.
Unwaged people, voluntary workers, students, the retired and people caring for family members can enjoy the benefits of Unite Community membership for 50p a week.
They can access free training courses on public speaking, campaigning and community organising.

Ann Gibbs, of the Food Cupboard, said demand was high and donations of tinned fruit, vegetables and meat would be appreciated.
Unite community’s West Somerset representative Kathrine See said: “The need to stand together and campaign for better public services and care for our communities vulnerable has never been greater.”
