AN ‘Alice in Wonderland’ fete will be held in Monksilver on Saturday, July 4, a date designated nationally to the theme as it was when Lewis Carroll first told his story to Alice Liddell.

The event will take place in the EMN Community Hall starting at 1 pm and will raise funds for All Saints Church, where Sir Francis Drake married and which will be open during the afternoon.

A spokesperson said: “We are holding a traditional, afternoon fete, with the emphasis on fun and laughter, based on the Wonderland story.

“Adults and children are invited to make a decorated silly hat at home and wear it to the fete.

“Join the mad hatters for afternoon tea, and lots of games, based on the characters from the book.”
