AN open day and country fair which annually attracts up to 5,000 people will be held on Saturday, June 27, at Brymore Academy boys’ secondary boarding and day school near Cannington.

An academy spokesperson said: “The open day offers visitors a chance to look around the school and its stunning campus, which includes a farm, walled garden, greenhouses, workshops, a foundry, and a forge so that potential students can see what is on offer.

“Visitors to the country fair, which always attracts thousands, can enjoy a wide variety of attractions including a main ring showing cattle and sheep plus events like the Shetland performance race team and a duck herding display.”

Other activities will include laser tag, bouncy castles, the ‘West Country Crawlers’, a dog show, face painting, donkey rides, and a heavy horse display.

There will also be a display of interesting and vintage vehicles, engines, and tractors, live music, and a wide range of trade and food stands.

The spokesperson said: “Brymore Academy is a school with a difference, where boys from 11 to 17 use practical, hands-on learning to develop vocational skills.

“The curriculum is based around four cornerstones - the farm, horticulture, the workshops, and sport, while also providing an excellent academic education.

“Brymore is not just about what we offer, but the way in which we approach everything, an education at the academy is quite simply an experience to last a lifetime.

“Our boarding is popular with the boys, offering a comfortable, safe, and happy environment with a huge range of evening and weekend activities for the boys to enjoy.”

The open day event starts at 10.30 am and ends at 5 pm and entry is £3 per car or £1 per pedestrian.
