AN evening of Ukrainian culture, music, traditions, and songs was enjoyed when the theatrical performance ‘Christmas Night’ was staged in St Andrew’s Church, Wiveliscombe, on Sunday (December 7).

The audience was invited to step into a cosy Ukrainian home on Christmas Eve, where a family, separated by war and distance, finds hope, faith, and the miracle of reunion.

Despite the sorrow echoing through their story, light and love triumph in the end, as miracles often do at Christmas.

The celebration continued after the performance with a buffet dinner with mulled wine, Ukrainian varenyky, salads, and homemade cakes prepared by Ukrainian women.

Proceeds from the event will go to support Ukrainian families affected by the war and those defending their freedom on the front lines.
