A TWO-year project about children and by children, to mark 100 years since World War One, will culminate with a book launch and unveiling of a special mosaic in Wiveliscombe on Saturday, September 24.

The Heritage Lottery Funded project, Wiveliscombe Children of the Great War, has been a novel way of marking the war, with children from Wiveliscombe Primary School researching the lives of their counterparts there 100 years ago.

Now their research and art work has been compiled into a book, while some of their designs will be a six foot, permanent memorial in the town’s Jubilee Gardens, where the launch event will be held at 10.30am on Saturday.

Members of the public are invited to come along, and can bring any World War One war memorabilia they may have, to be photographed and put on the project website.
