SIR — We really enjoyed reading your informative newspaper whilst on holiday and we thought you might consider publishing this letter because I would so like to send our appreciation and thanks to the young lady and her husband who helped when we were in despair (very late at night) trying to find our way to Minehead on Monday June 24.

We had set off from Worcestershire at 7pm very assured that we knew our way because we had an AA route planner.

However, there had been an accident on the A39 and we were turned around and diverted back along it.

We thought Minehead would soon be signposted but we seemed to be travelling a very long way before we saw traffic lights and turned left because previously we had caught sight of the sea in the distance and thought this would be the direction we needed.

After travelling a long way along country roads we eventually saw a sign for Bridgwater and went along that road.

It was very fortunate we saw a small shop that was just closing and two young assistants were trying to give us directions to Minehead when a young lady shopper confirmed that the A39 was closed because of an accident.

She then wrote exactly where we must turn, which was just after the Windmill Restaurant on the A39. We set off feeling more secure.

When we arrived eventually at the Windmill Restaurant we stopped at the car park and that is when we saw this young lady (from the shop) and her husband who had been following us in their car to see if we had taken the right direction.

They then escorted us on the correct road all the way back to Butlin's at Minehead. It was now midnight!

I cannot stop thinking how lucky we were to meet two such kind people who came to our rescue. My faith in humanity has been completely restored.

Mr and Mrs Boon,

Worcestershire.
