COUNCILLORS in Minehead have agreed to share the cost of a defibrillator to be installed in the town’s Blenheim Gardens.

A partnership with Minehead Community Defib Group will see the life-saving equipment fitted to the park’s bandstand.

The council will meet half of the £2,200 defibrillator installation costs, while its ownership, insurance, maintenance, inspections, and ongoing management will be the responsibility of the defib group.

Town clerk Ben Parker said the council could cover the cost from its Blenheim Gardens budget.

It will be the 30th to be installed in the town by the group, which has been building an extensive network of publicly accessible defibrillators for several years.

All the defibrillators are registered with the ambulance service and available 24/7 every day of the year.
