DESPITE tropical temperatures, crowds flocked to Carhampton village fete on Saturday (July 11), raising more than £3,800, the highest total in the event’s 60-year history, delighted organisers reported.
One of the organisers, Lucy Parker, said: “We wondered if the scorching weather would keep people away but we are thrilled the opposite happened.

Highlights of a packed programme included the Minehead Samba Band, the Lynmouth Shanty Singers, Famished Folk, and a massive display of vintage motorcycles and tractors.
